Open Gate Ranch is a family run regenerative livestock ranch near Last Mountain Lake, Saskatchewan. Combining Spencer's third-generation farming experience with Laura's fresh perspective and passion for environmental stewardship, we're working to build a farm that improves the land while feeding our community.

Our Practices
Soil Restoration
We are passionate about learning more about soil - how our animals and the crops we grow help or hinder soil health. We believe soil it the key to healthy land, healthy animals and a healthy climate.
Rotational Grazing
Our livestock are moved frequently on to fresh grass - allowing them to have a diverse diet leading to nutrient dense beef, mimicking natural grazing systems and allowing long rest periods for the plant life to recover - improving the soil life.
Closing the Loop
We work with organizations like Loop to help divert food waste - collecting food that would otherwise end up in a landfill, to provide a diverse diet for our animals and reduce food waste - it's a win-win
